Dehradun (Uttarakhand),- The Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) 2026 got off to a spectacular start with a grand and vibrant opening ceremony on Monday.
The ceremony in Dehradun showcased the rich culture of Uttarakhand and the talent of local artists. Local performers entertained the audience with their impressive presentations and brought the state’s rich cultural heritage to the stage through their art.
The grand opening ceremony was attended by Shri Vinay Shankar Pandey (IAS), Secretary, Health and Civil Aviation, Government of Uttarakhand, and Managing Director, SIDCUL; Shri Mahim Verma, Former Vice-President, BCCI and Former Secretary, Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU); Shri P.C. Verma, Chief Patron and Founder, Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU); Shri Deepak Mehra, President, CAU; Shri Kiran Verma, Secretary, CAU; Shri Sunil Joshi, Chairperson, Uttarakhand Premier League; and Shri Navneet Mishra, Chief Operating Officer, Uttarakhand Premier League 2026.
The performances by local artists added a special energy to the opening ceremony. The audience applauded enthusiastically as the artists performed, creating an atmosphere of excitement and celebration throughout the venue. Giving local talent an opportunity to showcase their skills on such a big platform was also one of the highlights of the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor added further glamour to the opening ceremony with her dance performance. Vaani Kapoor won the hearts of the audience with her spectacular performance, adding a touch of Bollywood glamour to the event. The audience showed tremendous enthusiasm during her performance.
The combination of Uttarakhand’s cultural performances by local artists and Vaani Kapoor’s dance performance made the beginning of UPL 2026 a memorable one. Ahead of the action on the cricket field, the opening ceremony further amplified the excitement among fans and set the tone for the league.
Earlier in the day, the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) 2026, the third edition of the state’s premier T20 competition, commenced on September 21 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Raipur, Dehradun. The tournament opened with the women’s competition, featuring Mussoorie Queens, Bageshwar Aerial, Pithoragarh Hurricanes and Dehradun Warriors.
